The ESC key is not working on macOS Sonoma.
What was the problem?
I just experienced a weird issue where my “ESC” key stopped working. It worked when I enabled the accessibility keyboard, and I could see it was not a hardware issue.
What was causing the problem?
I started closing some background processes from Activity Monitor and finally discovered that Loom was causing this issue. So, if you are reading this post, simply kill Loom from the Activity Monitor and check if the problem will be fixed.
How do you test if the issue is fixed?
The easiest way is to test it on YouTube and try to exit full-screen mode.
Alternative Suggestions
When trying to find a solution online, I found that people generally think some third-party app is causing this problem. So, try to kill some processes from the Activity monitor and find the problem.
I have already reported the problem to the Loom team and hope they will resolve it soon.
