Set mulitple variant images in Shopify

By default, Shopify only allows one image per variant in their product admin pages. This becomes problematic when you must show multiple images for each color or style variant of your products.

The Challenge with Product Variant Images

When selling products with different colors or styles, customers expect to see all angles and details of the specific variant they’re interested in. However, Shopify’s built-in functionality limits you to just one image per variant, which doesn’t provide the complete visual information your customers need. Your product pages don’t look professional and clean.

Improving Customer Experience and Increase Your Conversion Rates

When customers visit your product page, they want to see exactly what they’re buying. For example, if you’re selling shoes in multiple colors and a customer selects green, they should only see images of the green shoes from all angles. This focused approach helps customers make confident purchase decisions and can significantly improve your conversion rates.

Implementation Options

There are several ways to achieve multiple variant images:

  1. Implementing custom code solutions. There are endless YouTube tutorials to watch and learn how to modify your theme code. If you are technical you can solve this problem by implementing custom code in your theme.
  2. Working with developers to modify your theme. You can hire a developer on platforms like Upwork or Fiver, and they might solve the problem for your needs, but it might be expensive depending on their rates.
  3. Use the Rubik Variant Images app to solve this problem. This app allows you to set multiple images per variant and works seamlessly with popular themes.

Watch the video tutorial to see how Rubik app works.

Sometimes, you might have a case where you have multiple options like color and style, and you want to show relevant images based on the selected color and style. In this case, you can set images per color and style, and then the Rubik app will take the intersection of these images, and it will show only relevant images based on selected options. You can watch the video to see it in action.

You can find the full list of themes supported by the app below.
