How to bulk delete products or product images from Shopify?
If you found this post, you probably tried to delete products in Shopify admin and realized how boring it is to delete products or product images page by page endlessly. It may take hours of your valuable time, plus it is boring and painful 😱. The good news is you are in the right place and very close to solving this problem in a few clicks ✨
You may need to delete all products, or you may need to delete products with specific statuses like draft or archived. You may need to delete products that belong to a specific collection, or you may need to delete products that belong to the same vendor or vendors. Another case can be to delete all products that are out of stock. All these are valid scenarios; you may even need to perform actions based on these conditions in combination. For example, delete all products which belong to the same vendor and are sold out. Sometimes, you may need to delete only product images and keep the products.
I built an app that solves all these problems in a few clicks. The app is called “Smart Bulk Delete Products.”

When you create your first delete job, you will see the following screen.
You can choose your specific criteria or skip all steps and click the Delete Products or Delete Product Images buttons if you need to delete all products or all product images.
You may need to remove products based on different scenarios, which can also be combined. These criteria are:
- Delete products in a specific collection
- Delete products that have a specific vendor or vendors.
- Delete products that have a specific status. For example, Draft or Archived.
- Delete all products that are out of stock.
Don’t hesitate to contact me from the support section if you need different rules. I will happily listen to your case, and if it is something possible, I may add this as a feature.
Once all rules are clear and you start to delete the job, it will run in the background, and you will receive an email once it is done. It is also possible to track progress in real-time.
If you did something wrong, it would be possible to Stop the Job, but once the products are deleted, it is impossible to do anything as the reverting products feature doesn’t exist. This is why you may want to export your products before deleting them, just in case.
